In response to this man’s passing my heart is a bit joyous. I am joyous as I watch the way people celebrate the parts of him that we all loved: the music, the dance. Last night I was at a sushi resturant where everyone was playing Michael’s music and dancing. My cousin and I just soaked it all in, poured out a lil sake for his memory. This morning in the line at McDonald’s a car of mexican americans were dancing and smiling while listening to the remix by the local radio station of his works. The entire staff at McDonalds we dancing joyously and moonwalking to the drink machine and back again. Work seemed easier and the celebration of life was untouchable. I hope when I go that people start impromtu dance off’s to music and celebrate the true essense of what I was about. Michael’s life may has been about alot of things that we as a nation questioned or misunderstood. In the end it is his spirit of music and movement that I hope we all celebrate in his absence.
